Parks and Nature
Enjoy the nature and local wildlife that surrounds Norfolk
Norfolk offers so much greenery and a wide range of nature and local wildlife, and we’re so fortunate to have it on our doorstep! The county is thriving with national parks, woodlands, nature reserves, activity centres and so much more… Here are some of our favourite spots we love recommending to our guests.
8 Miles
Shouldham Warren
Shouldham Warren is not only a much-loved nature reserve in the area, but a fascinating environment of tall pine woodlands, valleys and rivers that change through the seasons, making it the perfect spot for hikers, dog walkers and mountain bikers. Make sure to bring your walking boots and enjoy an afternoon of nature, history, and wildlife, and if want, top it all off with some food and drink at the charming Kings Arms pub in the nearby village of Shouldham!
10 Miles
Lynford Stag
Just 10 miles away is Lynford Stag, a picturesque walking and picnic spot set in Thetford Forest where deer and other local wildlife roam free. The charming picnic area in the forest offers visitors the perfect spot to pause on a picnic bench, surround themselves with nature, and enjoy good food and company. Or for something more active… Walkers and dog walkers will be delighted to learn that there are various hiking trails to guide you through the forest’s plantations, natural habitats and beauty spots!

High Lodge
High Lodge is a woodland wonderland where couples, friends and families can explore, run, climb, and cycle around the picturesque Thetford Forest. Dotted around the forest are winding trails that guide you through deep woods and wildernesses that are perfect for long walks, or mountain biking adventures! We recommend checking their upcoming events before visiting, as they’re known for their busy calendar of activities and classes!
